Space for Food took place on 28th February 2024, with two questions: what role does food play in Arklow? Is there sufficient space for its cultivation (growing, producing and selling) and social aspects (creating, dining, etc.)? The night was captured in a great article by Linda from Arklow Times: Recipe For Success As Making Arklow Brings Local Food Fanatics Together (arklowtimes.ie)
We were joined by three presenters to discuss the roles of food;
Tadgh Byrne: Tadgh Byrne – Locavore Chef
Didi de Zwarte: Registered Dietitian – Dublin | Didi de Zwarte – Didititian
Donal McCormick: Donal McCormack, Author at Community Gardens Ireland (cgireland.org)
Chef Tadhg Byrne put on a feast of local delicacies for us all to taste local Wicklow produce, the proof is in the pudding….
Goatbridge smoked trout, cream cheese and Staffords ‘Joanne’s’ bread
John Hempenstalls Wicklow Ban with Janet’s Country Fayre onion relish
Ballynerrin Eggs May with Mics Chilli Inferno Sauce on Staffords Bread
Wicklow ‘Stampy’ apple and potato cakes with Old MacDonalds Yoghurt Sauce
